Diving at Guajimico

The small village of Guajimico (named after an Indian)is located in the south central region of Cuba, at the mouth of the river La Jutía. It is on the road from Cienfuegos to Trinidad a short 30 minute drive from those historical cities.

The three star resort, Villa Guajimico, has 51 cottages built in a traditional Cuban style with private bathrooms and air conditioning. Its facilities include 6 catamarans for excursions and a dive centre which gives both introductory dives and diving for the experienced. Villa Guajimico is the ideal destination for those who want to combine scuba diving with sightseeing and exploring the Cuban country side and its historical cities like the neoclassical Cienfuegos or the Spanish colonial UNESCO World Heritage city of Trinidad.

Guajimico offers 14 dive sites in the vicinity of the resort at 10 - 15 minutes from shore. Scuba diving takes place twice a day, one morning dive returning to shore for lunch and one afternoon dive. The two dive boats accommodate 30 and 20 pax each. Dive gear is available for rent. Tanks and weights are provided at no charge for those who bring their own equipment.

Diving equipment on hand includes Trade mark Vieux Plongeur 50 tanks and full gear along with four Bauer compressors. Depth ranges from 5 to more than 60 metres. 18 different kind of corals can be seen as well as many sponges. Marine life you can see includes red snapper, arracuda, quelonian, evil fish and sawfish.

Day 1: Assistance at Havana airport. Bus transfer to Sevilla Hotel. Overnight accommodation at the Sevilla with breakfast.

Day 2: Guided City Sightseeing visiting the most interesting sightseeing points, Old Havana, Street markets, Plazas, Revolution Square and others. Lunch in a typical Cuban food restaurant in Habana Vieja. Afternoon transfer to Villa Guajimico. Accommodation with breakfast and dinner included.

Day 3-5: Scuba Diving at Villa Guajimico. 6 immersions per passenger.

Day 6: Transfer to Trinidad, the most colonial of Cuban cities, declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. Accommodation at Hotel Las Cuevas with breakfast and dinner included. Free time to explore this ancient city.

Day 7: Transfer to Havana. Accommodation at Sevilla Hotel with breakfast.

Day 8: Free time to explore Havana.

Day 9: Transfer for departure to airport
