Belltran de Santa Cruz

An elegant big house from the 18th century, in an excellent location close to the Old Square. Opened in April, 2003, as a cozy hotel, where the combination of modern and old architectural elements stress the originality of its attractive design. This house, built by Gabriel Beltrán de Santa Cruz’s parents, the first San Juan de Jaruco Count, later belonged to the distinguished Cárdenas de Monte Hermoso Marquis’s descendants. The most illustrious visitors to the city gathered in this house: the Baron Alejandro de Humboldt, eminent German scientist; and three French princes, the Beaujolais Count, the Montpensier and the Orleans Dukes. The hotel’s 11 air-conditioned rooms feature private modern bathroom with hair dryer, bathtub and and hot and cold water, international satellite TV, direct dial national and international telephone, minibar and safety deposit box. Lobby bar, internet café, cafeteria. One of the more pleasant places to stay in this price range.
