El Castillo De Baracoa

One of the most interesting accommodations in Cuba. Historic, two story, 34 room hotel, a 10 minute walk from the town of Baracoa. The hotel is built in the 1770 in a fort above the town. Completely restored in 1990. It was originally built to keep the British out, then it was a prison, and now it is a hotel. Air conditioned rooms have bath and are colonial style with lofty ceilings, terra-cotta-tiled floors, private bath, telephone and furniture carved from cedar by the local craftsmen. TV lounge in the lobby. Swimming pool with a spectacular view of the bay and El Yunque (the anvil shaped mountain). Disco. This irrestistible hotel is definately the place to stay in Baracoa.
