Moka

Hidden away in the mountains behind Las Tererazas, within the UNESCO biosphere reserve and run in co-operation with the Cuban Academy of Sciences as an ecotourism center. One of Cuba’s showcase hotels- classy, romantic, intimate, and fully deserving of several nights’ stay. The hotel, which opened in late 1994, is a contemporary interpretation of Spanish colonial architecture and features a splendid multi-tiered atrium lobby centered on a lime tree with branches disappearing through the skylight. The two stories accomodations block has magnificent red-barked trees growing up through the balconies and ceiling. Each room has a floor-to-ceiling glass window and French door leading onto a spacious terra-cotta-tiled balcony with tables, reclining chairs, and views through the trees to the lake. Stylish bedrooms. It is doubtful that you have ever slept so close to the wilderness in such great comfort. The bathroom is as romantic as can be with a big tub at the base of an enormous window looking out at the woods, making you feel as if you are bathing in a stream. Facilities include a tennis court, pleasant swimming pool, sundeck, and lido cafe and bar reached by a path that winds uphill through lush, landscaped grounds. Excellent Creole restaurant. Bike and horseback nature tours. This hotel is an ideal place for a honeymoon and will appeal to all romantics. 110V. Satellite TV. International phone and fax service. Bring insect repellant.
